Tell Tale Tusk TellTaleTuskhttps://www.telltaletusk.com - This intriguing all-female contemporary folk ensemble plays a spellbinding (and award-winning) set of folktales old and folksong new, weaving immaculate and thrilling harmony vocals with exquisite cello and violin work to create a take on folk that is bold and original. As well as inventive interpreters and skilled arrangers of music from the British Isles, the ensemble are prolific writers, adding their distinctive and astute voices to modern day folksong. Their traditional songs are carefully chosen to portray and represent women in more assertive roles and their original material aims to change and diversity the narratives about the female experiences usually found in folk music. The singers of Tell Tale Tusk have captured the imagination of international audiences, and were awarded the prize for "Best Instrumentalist" at Haizetara festival in Spain. The panel of judges decided to treat the three voices as one instrument based on their "seamless voice blending" and intricate harmony writing. (Suitable for ages 10+) - doors open 7.30pm - Braceborough & Wilsthorpe Village Hall, Main St/Church St, Braceborough, PE9 4NT - tickets £10 adults, £8 children - box office 01778 560417 or jameswilliams1011@gmail.com - licenced bar

Upwood VH Philip Henryhttp://www.philliphenryandhannahmartin.co.uk - Virtuoso is an overused word, glibly littered around as a description of ability. But when attributed to Lancashire-born, Devon-based musician Phillip Henry it’s spot on. Henry has made his name as a spellbinding exponent of the slide guitar augmented with show-stopping beatbox harmonica. His celebrated partnership with singer-songwriter, fiddle and banjo player Hannah Martin, (duo now renamed EDGELARKS) has been rich and fruitful, through five acclaimed studio and live albums and an unparalleled innovation that saw them clinch the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Best Duo’ title in 2014. But now it is Henry’s turn to stand centre-stage with a long–awaited solo album which marks a decade of travels to all points of the compass - with a guitar (or two!) in tow and a rare chance to hear him sing - Upwood Village Hall, High St, Upwood, Huntingdon, PE26 2QE - Doors 7.15pm Show 7.45pm Tickets £13 Tel. 01487 814114 / email pndmcleod@btinternet.com   www.upwood.org/index.php/uvh-performing-arts-events
